VISUAL DECONTAMINATION

event type > exhibition, urban campaign
date > July 1-7, 2009
location > contaminated urban public surfaces in the centre
city >Novi Sad, Serbia

As part of the Open Design Studio 03 Project, an exhibition of works by graphic design and new media students from Novi Sad Academy of Arts was organized and held on Wednesday 1.7.2009. The work was showcased on the outdoor advertising space situated at Narodnih Heroja 3, Novi Sad. The project idea originated from the necessity to resolve some of the ongoing visual culture problems of Novi Sad: unavailability of outdoor advertising spaces, reasoning behind the promotion of instant capitalism, overall pollution of the urban environment by application of advertising materials at inappropriate places (trees, building facades, poles and other areas not intended for advertising purposes)

ID: IDENTITY, ID: DEADLINE

event type > participating at exhibition ID:Ideology of design www.kuda.org/sr/id
date > October 23 - November 23, 2009
location > Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina
city > Novi Sad, Serbia

Involvement of Open Design Studio in ID exhibition: Ideology of Design is based on play, collaboration and experiment. Two projects, that will be presented to the public are based on notions – psychological pressure, deadline, speed and identity – represent ideologies that define design as open and collaborative discipline, but also show the phenomena of contemporary society.

Psychological pressure, speed and deadline shape design and the designer in the sense of fulfilling constantly increasing demands of industry based on fast capitalistic development. Identity and its need of precise defining on the market show that graphic design through corporative identities became not only carrier of individual characteristics but carrier of ideology of corporations themselves.

THE ESSAY - YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE SEEN TO BE!

There in the distance, thousands of kilometres northern from our home, there is a place, that our heart is longing for and out roots are dragging to. We will always call Slovakia the mother-land, although our hearts are split in two. One part will always tick for the land of our very origin and second part for our place on earth, that we have here, on Serbian teritory. But it’s more that sure, that this second part will always, day by day, year by year, beat for our Slovak land.
