3 Effective Ways on How to Improve Your Lawn

Maintaining your lawn in its most beautiful condition can be a challenging task. But for a homeowner who values the benefits of having a well-maintained garden, nothing beats a well-kept lawn.

Lawns are important in two ways. They are maintained for aesthetic and recreational purposes. Landscapes of homes usually have the park as the centerpieces of front yard gardens. This makes it essential to always keep the lawn trimmed and the grass healthy. Lawns are also the venue for many outdoor activities. It is where your children play, and it is where your pets can freely roam around. You can also have a barbecue party or other events that you can think of.

These are the reasons why you should have efficient lawn maintenance techniques to make sure that your lawn will always be at its best. Here are some tips to help you maintain your lawn.

Soil Aeration

With the thick grass on your lawn, there may be no more space for their roots to grow. The roots will end up entangled altogether because the roots of grasses do not go as deep as trees. This is not a pleasant condition, which can result in unhealthy greens.

As a remedy, you have to punch holes on the soil throughout your lawns. Holes should at least be 4 inches deep. This will provide better air circulation and loosen the soil for roots to grow. For large lawns, you may have to need a soil aerating machine. You can aerate your lawn if you have a smaller lawn by using a handheld aerating tool. Aerating your lawn at least once a year can do the trick, but it can be more helpful to your grasses if you do it twice.

Right Watering Technique

When watering your lawn, make sure that they are evenly sprayed by the sprinkler. This will ensure that all the areas of your lawn are covered with healthy grasses. Water deeply but not too often. This will help the roots go deeper which means they can provide more nutrients for the plants. Less frequent watering can also make the roots stronger.

tulipsUse of Organic Fertilizers

It will be better for your grass and your family to use organic fertilizers. Your lawn will be greener if you use organic fertilizers according to a study. Your family and pets will not also be exposed to harmful chemicals. Other methods of fertilizing are to leave grass clippings produced by your lawnmower to decay on top of the lawn. You can also use compost from your kitchen waste.
